Ville Rauma
I've spent over 20 years in software in various roles like programmer, software architect, game developer, backend and full stack developer, and eventually COO, CTO and CEO, sometimes wearing many of these hats. I've led teams from a few juniors to tens of professionals, run 24/7 live operations for products like Hill Climb Racing with millions of daily players, wrestled with petabytes of data, and decided how tens of millions of development euros get spent annually. I've hired well over a hundred people, and let a couple dozen go, some from failures on my part.
I left the COO role at Fingersoft in February 2025, because twenty years had earned me the credit to do it and the pull of making things directly again beat the management overhead. The timing helped too, since AI had just collapsed the distance between an idea and something that actually runs, and I wanted to be building in that rather than reading about it.
Consulting
The questions I get asked are usually the same few.
They come down to what a company should build and what it should buy, what an AI strategy actually has to contain before it's worth anything, and how much of that the organisation can carry right now, with the people and the budget it has rather than the ones written into the plan. I answer those from having made the same calls myself and lived with the results, including the ones that went badly.
In practice that usually means working with leadership team members using whatever fits, whether that's workshops, background research or presentations that support the decisions they have to make. None of it comes from theory, because I run my own work through a digital factory I built called V-Loci, with several projects going through it every day.
